Meet April Brumfield, founder
April Brumfield is Managing Director and Founder of Brumfield & Associates, a small boutique agency that handles the careers and touring of a select group of artists. April has over twenty-five years of experience in artist management, presenting, fundraising, special events and teaching at the University level.
After having earned a Masters in Arts Administration from the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, she went to work in development for the Cincinnati Opera. Three seasons later she moved to New York to work with some of the most renowned artists in classical music, including Jean-Pierre Rampal, Alfred Brendel, James Morris, the Juilliard String Quartet, and Tafelmusik among others.
As managing director of her own agency, April is often asked to consult in the areas of artist management, non-profits, and fundraising. In addition, she has extensive experience in higher education and is Assistant Professor of Music Industry Studies and Commercial Music at Augusta University, teaching courses in booking and touring management, publishing, copyright basics and arts administration. Previously she was Assistant Professor and Coordinator of the Music Industry Studies Program for over 10 years at Eastern Kentucky University. April is a consultant for the KY Arts Council as part of the KY Peer Advisory Network, and is an active member of the McDonald’s All-American Alumni Band, Music and Entertainment Industry Educator’s Association (MEIEA), National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) and Jazz Education Network (JEN).
